#Renee Vendetti Autobiography

My name is Renee Vendetti and I was born March 28, 1961 in Erie, Pennsylvania. My parents are Frank Vendetti and Myra Kelm of Erie. I was raised on Erie’s eastside on Lighthouse Street and Hess Avenue. I attended Holy Family Grade School and Wayne Middle School. My high school years; after my parents deciding to move to North East, I attended North East High School. After graduation and marriage, I obtained my degree from Tri State Business.

I moved back to Erie in 1989 with my 2 daughters Cara and Leah Neff. I went to work for General Electric in the accounting office and my position was payroll. I left General Electric and went to work for the Gertrude Barber Center in the accounting office and assumed a payroll position. Then I found my home at Erie Bearings and have been there for 8 years and have advanced to Credit Manager.

I have 20 years’ experience in payroll and accounting.

Since 2005, I became involved with County Council after family rights issues were being violated (one being of personal nature), and became the local president of Heads Held High Family Advocacy Group. At council meetings, I spoke out of the violations in front of county council members and the public.

I have helped many families to help resolve issues to keep their children and/or get their children back from agency control. I have also worked with grandparents doing the same. I have attended meetings in Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, and Monroe County to learn family rights laws. I am now state affiliated as a Family Rights Advocate in Erie County.

I previously ran for county council during the last election but was not able to campaign. My daughter Cara who is serving in the military was sent to Iraq and I raised her 2 children for 18 months. I was also raising my other grandson who is permanently in my care.

All of my dedication to family rights issues was done on my own time, my own money, and not at taxpayer expense.

In attending County Council Meetings since 2005, I have first-hand knowledge of procedures and complaints by the public.

I have spoken out many times over issues relating to public and procedural matters and have witnessed various violations by council members.

County Council is also responsible for the oversight of a $380 million dollar budget that has not been forthright to the expenditures.

County Council does not (many times) follow the Home Rule Charter, or the Roberts Rule of Order (procedure), or the Sunshine Act. Many of these issues are completely ignored by present council members. Including moving first readings to second readings and voting in the same night. This is only to be done in an emergency. This has become common practice.
If Elected: “ I Work for YOU
I would like to have term limits established. Career politicians are indebted. According to the Home Rule Charter, County Council members should not be receiving a pension, but they do.

County Council meetings televised. Erie and Millcreek meetings are televised as are the school board meetings and although petitions were presented, they were ignored by council. Many issues of incorrect procedures could be stopped if televised and the $380 million dollar budget would be transparent as to where it is allocated.

Gaming money was established to assist homeowners. That has only partially happened and the money is given to various organizations and agencies as well as bricks and mortar. It belongs to the taxpayers, the homeowners, and needs to be returned.

Lerta Tax Relief needs to be addressed. At present Lerta is given for a number of years (10). As it stands many businesses have left once Lerta tax relief was up. It is time to include and insure a safeguard or a penalty clause contract to those businesses who want to leave Erie County after receiving Lerta Tax Relief for years.

Protecting the taxpayers and families of Erie County is my goal. These are some of the issues I intend to address if elected and to speak out.
